Dave Lepard (born David Roberto Hellman, May 28, 1980; died January 20, 2006, Uppsala, Sweden) was the lead singer and guitarist in the Swedish Glam metal band Crashdïet.
In the mid 1990s he was the lead singer of an old school death-metal band called Warpath and used to play the charango. He formed the band; Crashdiet in 2000, but in 2002 the band split up, and he continued with a new lineup. Their music was based on 80's sleaze bands such as Mötley Crüe and Guns N' Roses, and the band gained a cult base, especially in Sweden. On the 20th of January 2006, Lepard committed suicide after being in a deep depression. The band announced, via their website: "We feel that we want to carry on the Crashdïet legacy, which will keep Daves spirit alive for a long long time.. It would be a shame NOT to spread the message across the whole world and let them know what real music should sound like!" The band announced their new singer, Finnish H. Olliver Twisted, 22 January 2007. The yearly Rest In Sleaze festival was created in Lepard's honor.
Street Symphonies Records will release a tribute album ('Reborn In Sleaze: A Tribute To Dave Lepard'), the tribute album will be released in january 2011. For more infos about this effort (tracklistenings/artists) please visit:
