REVIEW : Imperium – Heaven Or Hell (AOR Heaven, out: 30.10.2020)

IMPERIUM is a band that is led by Finnish drummer Mika Brushane. The debut opus with the title "Dreamhunter" saw the light of day back in 2016. The follow-up record, "Beyond The Stars", was released two years later by AOR Heaven.

Nowadays, it is time for album number three. The brand new "Heaven And Hell" is going to be released through AOR Heaven in October 30th.

In this project, Mika writes all the songs and lyrics, and plays all the drums, bass, keyboards and sings backing vocals, too. All the lead vocals are sang and guitars are played by various extremely talented musicians from the rock/metal scene all over the world and this time they include Robban Ernlund (Treat), Markku Kuikka (Agonizer, Kenziner, The Ragged Saints), Stefano Lionetti (Lionville), Mikey K Nilsson (Sapphire Eyes), Erkka Korhonen (Dark Sarah, Urban Tale) and Robbie LaBlanc (Blanc Faces).

The opening tune of the new opus entitled "Love Won't Let You Go" is simply breathtaking; words are not enough to describe this song. A song that features Robbie LaBlanc on lead vocals and probably the best track here. The melodies, harmonies and arrangements are all top notch and the chorus line is out of this world. "Heaven Or Hell" is yet another guitar driven melodic rock beast while in "Road To Paradise" the fans of Blanc Faces and Find Me will find their melodic heaven!! Both tracks are simply high quality AOR stuff at its best. In "Dreaming On",  IMPERIUM is delivering a strong keyboard-driven and very old-fashioned melodic rock gem while with "Save Me" (Robbie LaBlanc) we have a really 'classy' song that features an explosive chorus! Check out, also, the edgier "Lost In Yesterday" which is among my personal favorites out of "Heaven And Hell".

This is an amazingly good record all the way! "Heaven And Hell" is an hymn to the melodic rock scene that features some incredibly catchy songs, melodies to die for, superb guitars and soulful performances. I think that you got the picture of how "Heaven And Hell" sounds; the next thing that you HAVE to do is to mark the release date on your calendar and go and buy it!
