REVIEW : RAMOS, My Many Sides (Frontiers Music s.r.l., 7 August 2020)

Josh Ramos is well-known from his work with bands such as HARDLINE, TWO FIRES and The Storm. "My Many Sides" is entitled his debut album that is going to be released through Frontiers Music. For this debut opus, Ramos collaborated with many 'old' friends such as Eric Martin (Mr Big), Danny Vaughn (Tyketto), Harry Hess (Harem Scarem), Joe Retta (Heaven & Earth), Terry Ilous (XYZ), John Bisaha (The Babys), Tony Harnell (ex-TNT), and the last recorded performance from the late Tony Mills (ex-Shy) and the result is a strong opus that will please the melodic rock/hard rock fans out there. The rhythm section is completed by Fabrizio Grossi on bass and Tony Morra on drums, Michael T Ross on pianos, keyboards, Alex Alessandroni Jr on hammond and Eric Ragno on keyboards.  The opening of "Today Is The Day" (feat. Joe Retta) is a heavier, groovier tune that I liked a lot. In "Blameless Blue", Danny Vaughn 'gives' an extra and more Tyketto-esque flavour while in "Immortal" we have a nice and 'darker' track. This time Tony Harnell is featuring on vocals and the result is moving somewhere Westworld and Tony's solo albums. Very interesting song.  The hard rocking "Same Old" is solid while in "Moving On" RAMOS delivers a hard-blues gem that 'smokes"!!! The song that features Eric Martin (Mr.Big) on vocals , "Forefather" is among my favourite out of the new record. A slower tune that includes a simply beautiful melody in it and of course Martin's soulful performances. Bottom line is that Josh Ramos with his debut achieved to release a really interesting and solid opus all the way. The amazing list of guests (Danny Vaughn, Eric Martin, Hess and Retta among others...) gives the extra 'push' to the final result and at the end what we have here is a true melodic hard rock release .Songwritting : 8Production : 8Musicianship : 8Songs : 7Overall Rating : 7,75
