"Immortalia" is a concept album on the quest for eternal life, an amazing journey through literature, poetry and history. It's an album that contains songs linked together by the common theme of the immortality of the soul! The really amazing artwork was handled by Felipe Machado Franco who is well-known for his work with Blind Guardian and Rhapsody Of Fire.
After the theatrical and epic intro of "Immortalia", it's time for the opening track "Back To Life". A double-ass' kickin' drumming, a heavy riff and some impressive vocal performances in this fantastic tune! An appetizer of what's coming-up next. "The Curse Of The Moon" delivers some speedier rhythms and a huge guitar work! "Promises" is my personal favourite track of "Immortalia". It's a punchy heavy track with blistering guitar parts and a totally in-your-face vocal performances!! Well done!! "Wrath Of The Storm" is another perfect example of what this band is capable of offering when it comes to a heavy power metal song!! I have to say that the thing that impressed me the most is the vocalist, Philippe D'Orange. This guy's voice has a wide range of abilities whether it concerns some powerfull or aggressive or even some more 'theatrical' performances.
Overall, this is a solid power metal album. It has everything that a power metal fan could ask for; thunderous guitars, a tremendous vocalist, some well-crafted songs, a solid production and a tight musicianship. I have to say that with an album like this the power metal scene gains more points. For all the fans of 'ballsy' orchestral power metal with all the above mentioned elements, this is a must have!!
