The acronym W.E.T. comes from the members’ association with their former bands, Robert Säll & Andreas Passmark from Work of Art, Erik Mårtensson & Magnus Henriksson from Eclipse and Jeff Scott Soto from Talisman. And now, for the first time ever, the T is emphasized as Talisman drummer Jamie Borger has joined forces with the band’s original members.
I really love every single record by these guys! The debut was and still is a classic in my book and features some gems that stands through the test of time. The second one,"Rise Up", was edgier and included some hidden treasures as well. The big differnce regarding the sound came with the third full-length opus entitled "Earthrage" back in 2018. Heavier with some bigger and louder guitars and a more powerful sound this album came out of nowhere to rock our world for good. Three years later "Retransmission" was released and once again it was a hell of an album. Movin' to the same heavier paths of "Earthrage" this album is still one of my favorites from the band's discography.
Nowadays, the band is back in business with its brand new opus entitled "APEX" through Frontiers Music. The new effort will be released this March (28th).
"Believer" kicks-off the new record impressively. Heavy rock with a massive chorus included this track is pure melodic hard rock heaven. Next, "This House Is On Fire", sees Erik and Jeff sharing the vocal duties and the result is this anthemic super-catchy tune. In "What Are We Fighting For" we have a more commercial track with some AOR-ish pinches while in "Where Are The Heroes Now" we have yet another winner out of the new album. In-your-face, ultra melodic with a killer chorus line to die for! Pure gold! In "Breaking Up", the groovier "Nowhere To Run" and the 'funkier' "Pay Dirty" we have three more great tracks from a band that knows exactly how to write good, solid and catchy music!! Another amazing track out of "APEX" is the Eclipse-esque "Stay Alive"!!
W.E.T. is back in business with yet another high-quality, very energetic and bad-ass record! "APEX" is an overall great record by these extremely talented musicians that can't be missed by any fan of bands such as Ecipse, Talisman and every fan of the classic melodic hard rock era in general!!!
