Firehouse / Category 5 (1998)

This was the album that confused the 'die hards' of the band. "Category 5" was the band's fifth album and released back in 1998. If you expect to hear some good old heavy U.S. rock with huge melodies and big guitars then this album is not for you. This is a very average release from a band that in the past have offered some really huge albums. Mediocore melodies, uninspired guitar work and a lot of fillers are some of the things that can describe "Category 5". Strong points? Yes there are, C.J. Snare's voice is on top form and a couple of very good songs like the up-tempo "The Nights Were Young" and the nice ballad "Dream". But unfortunately these strong points can't save the whole album!

  1. Agree, very average album from this super hard rock group. Also their next album,O2...if I remember well, was not that good either. "Hold Your Fire" was the band's best release. 'Nuff said!
    Keep the fire burning.
