REVIEW : The Ragged Saints, Sonic Playground Revisted (AOR Heaven, Release Date : 31.01.2020)

The Ragged Saints is a Finnish melodic hard rock band that since its creation, back in 2011, and after a couple of demos and a debut record (The Sound Of Breaking Free) it's now ready to unleash a really impressive album.

The Ragged Saints's sound recalls the sound of the U.S. hard rock scene and bands such as Whitesnake, Ratt and Def Leppard with a more updated and modern twist that recalls bands such as H.E.A.T., Eclipse and First Signal to name a few.

The opening tune of "Never Gonna Let You Down" is pure melodic hard rock bliss. Edgy with a powerful and in-your-face sound this one is the perfect apettizer of what's to follow. Next in "Spinning Wheel" the band delivers yet another superb slice hard rock gem. More old-school with heavier guitars and with a Whitesnake-esque vibe in it this one is among my personal favorites out of the new opus.

In "Take Me With You" we have a more comercial tune, more up-tempo that includes a brilliant guitar line, a catchy as hell chorus line and a tight musianship. The punchy "Secret In Our Hearts", the power ballad of "Just Believe" that sounds like H.E.A.T. and the ultra-catchy song of "Always Forever" are three more great samples of The Ragged Saints music. Simple, edgy and ultra melodious that will speak staright to the heart of each and every fan of this genre. Another highlight out of the new album is without any doubt the melodic and anthemic tune of  "Turning Cold".

The Ragged Saints is a band that with its brand new "Sonic Playground Revisted" comes to shake things in the melodic hard rock/AOR community. These guys have the whole 'package' (killer songs, amazing musicianship, powerful performances..and the list goes on and on..) to become the next big thing out of Scandinavia.
