REVIEW : Crying Steel --- Stay Steel (Pride & Joy Music, June 2018)

The story of Crying Steel goes long back in 1982 in Bologna. From the ashes of the Hard Rock group WURDALAK, Crying Steel was born and released their debut EP “Crying Steel” in 1985. In the years that followed, the band played with Motörhead and Twisted Sister and the debut LP “On The Prowl” came out in 1987.
That album was a revolution as it was the first album of the Italian metal scene that was released in cd!!! More live performances, the 'necessary' line-up changes and a couple of reunions followed till 2007 when a new album, “The Steel Is Back” , saw the light of day. “Time Stands Steel”, was released in April 2013. In June 2013, and after that more line-up changes took place for the band.

So, nowadays Crying Steel is back in business with their brand new opus with the title "Stay Steel" through Pride & Joy Music. For this record, Crying Steel welcome on board Tony Mills (Shy, ex-TNT) as their lead singer.

The new album kicks-off impressively with the powerful metal anthem of "Hammerfall". Mr. Mills does an excellent job regarding of the vocals here and the band delivers some classic metal sound that I strongly recommend for headbanging!!! "The Killer Inside", "Speed Of Light" and "Blackout" are all three strong songs that feature a solid and 'ballsy' metal sound that will impress both old and new fans equally. "Raise Your Hell" and it's time for hands up in the air with this anthemic metal hymn (that reminded a bit of Motley Crue's earlier works!!!!). Awesome stuff!!!  Other highlights are "Sail The Brave", "Name Of The Father" and "Road To Glory".

Crying Steel is back in music business with this solid album. The addition of Mr. Tony Mills sure adds some class to the final result and makes "Stay Steel" a must have for every metal head out there!!

Rating : 8/10
