REVIEW : Iron Savior / Live At The Final Frontier (2015)

The history of IRON SAVIOR began in 1996 as a studio project, at the start, with the idea to create a sound close to the traditional (and influenced by NWOBHM greats like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden) power metal scene with science fiction concepts-linked lyrics.

The band, founded by Piet Sielck, Kai Hansen (Gamma Ray) and Thomen Stauch (ex-Blind Guardian), has unleashed eight studio albums since then and has just recently issued a reworked version (remixed, remastered, partly re-recorded) of their “Megatropolis” album, titled “Megatropolis 2.0”. Now with their first ever DVD, IRON SAVIOR will satisfy their fans again completely: “Live At The Final Frontier” includes the band’s recent hometown concert (Hamburg, January 2015) on DVD and 2CDs (as package in Digipak format).

So, what we have here is the band's first ever live recording that will please each and every single fan of this great band. The sound here is solid, fat and sometimes raw and achieves to capture the magically feeling between both the band and the crowd! The track listing is perfectly balanced and includes the best moments of Iron Savior's 20 year's career even if they could easily add in more killer tracks from their discography. But I think that a band that has, already, released so many albums it's so damn difficult to construct a live 'best of' effort. Let's not complain and let's focus to this really superb live release and let the thunder roll with tracks such as "The Savior", "R U Ready", "Heavy Metal Never Dies", "Last Hero" and so many others! ..........Heavy Metal Never Dies!!!!!!
