MASTERCASTLE / Enfer [De La Bibliothèque Nationale] (2014)

Founded in 2008 by guitarist Pier Gonella (Necrodeath) and vocalist Giorgia Gueglio, Mastercastle soon became one of the promising acts in the European Power/Neoclassical Metal scene. 'Enfer De La Bibliothèque Nationale' is the band's  fifth release already and they are ready to take things into a higher level.

This new work, inspired by the different meanings and aspects of "censorship", has been described by the band as their heaviest effort to date. Andrea De Paoli (Labyrinth, Vision Divine), also, appears here.

MASTERCASTLE's sound is basically melodic power metal with emphasis on big melodies, strong riffs, virtuoso guitar solos, powerful performances and, also, some intense neo-classical pinches . The new album sounds fresh with an up-dated air that's making the final result very attractive for every fan of this particular genre. Highlights here are the amazing and slightly modern opener tune of "The Castle", "Naked" (which is my personal favorite), the atmospheric "Straight To The Bone" and "Venice".

All in all, the female-fronted band of Mastercastle with their new step achieved to release a 'clever' album all the way. They are mixing perfectly and with a genius way the classic power metal/neo-classic scene with a more modern and fresh way and the sure thing is that the final result will please all the fans of this genre.
