REVIEW : Voodoo Circle, Hail To The King (AFM Records, Release: 15 November 2024)

The amazing hard blues rock 'n' roll band of VOODOO CIRCLE is back in business with its brand new opus entitled "Hail To The King". The new effort will see the light of day this November through AFM Records.

VOODOO CIRCLE is a band that never 'disguised' its influences in its music. Classic bands such as Whitesnake, DeepPurple, Rainbow and Led Zeppelin made a huge impact in Voodoo Circle sound and that's a thing that reflects in the band's sound through the years. Of course the late and classic 80's hard rock scene, in general, is also a big influence. The participation of the guitar wizard Alex Beyrodt and the 'mighty' David Readman (Pink Cream 69) on vocals is something extra that takes the final result steps forward!

The new record kicks-off with a classic Voodoo Circle tune; "Lay Down Your Lovin'" is what I wanted to listen to from this band. A very hard hittin', powerful, very Whitesnake-esque tune with a great solo from Beyrodt!! "Let It Rock" is a bit heavier and more in-your-face while in "Sweet Little Sister" we are dealing with a totally Whitesnake-ish track!! A song that sounds like it jumped out from '1987' or "Slip Of The Tongue" album that will make you whistle it for days. The groove here is truly monstrous!

More 70's classic elements in the epic "Castles Made Of Glas" and "Black Country" while in "Strangers InThe Night" the band delivers yet another 80's influenced hard rock gem in which David Readman's vocals really shine through!

Bottom line is that VOODOO CIRCLE never disapoints!! "Hail To The King" is a classic 80's hard rock record; period! Essential for the fans of earlier Whitesnake, Rainbow and Led Zeppelin!
