TNT / Atlantis (2008)

What is this? For sure this is not the TNT that we love and grew up with. Where are the huge and inspired choruses and hook lines, where is the melody and the unique sound, where are all the things that we love from this band? And please don't get me wrong, I said it before and I will say it one more time. I like Tony Mills voice, a lot. I'm a big fan of his Shy's works and with all the things that he is involved with in. I also love LeTekro's guitar playin', this guy was and still is one of the 'hottest' names in the guitar world scene. But hey, this album is far far far away from the band's sound. If the band with their previous album took a different direction, with this one changed their style once again. The sound is somewhere between Beatles (?), some 70's classic rock sound and a bit of  Enuff Z'Nuff. More laid-back and in some of the songs you can still hear some really classic TNT guitar leads. The vocal performances from Mr. Mills are this album's strongest point and there are a couple of songs that can stand aside the old TNT tunes. But a couple of songs are enough to save the final result? Overall and most of all with an open mind this is a good rock effort. Last thing that I want to say is that with or without Tony Harnell or Tony Mills, I think that TNT can rock our worlds once more. Let's hope that with their forthcoming album, TNT will lead the melodic hard rock scene once again.
