A NEW SUPERGROUP?

This year’s first supergroup announcement comes to us from Jason Bonham, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Sherinian, and Glenn Hughes. Black Country is born!!!!!


                                                                   Joe Bonamassa

Bonamassa was born in Utica, New York. He received his first guitar from his father at the age of 4, and by age 7 he was playing Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes note for note. At the age of 11, during a short period of being mentored by Danny Gatton, he learned such styles as country and jazz as well as heavy rock.During this time with Gatton, Bonamassa sat in with Gatton's band whenever they played in New York. He first opened for B. B. King at 12 years of age. After first hearing him play, King said, “This kid's potential is unbelievable. He hasn't even begun to scratch the surface. He's one of a kind.” At 14, he was invited to attend a Fender guitar event; during that trip to the West Coast he met Berry Oakley, Jr. Bonamassa and Berry founded the group Bloodline with Miles Davis's son Erin and Robby Krieger's son Waylon. They released one album which produced two chart singles — "Stone Cold Hearted", and "Dixie Peach." He has since played with other music greats including Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker, Gregg Allman, Steve Winwood, Paul Jones, Eric Clapton, and Derek Trucks.Unlike other successful blues-rock guitarists, Bonamassa has cited his influences as being British and Irish blues acts, rather than American acts. In an interview in Guitarist magazine (issue 265), he cited the three albums that had the biggest influence on his playing: John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton (the Beano album), Rory Gallagher's Irish Tour and Goodbye by Cream. He also stated that Stevie Ray Vaughan's Texas Flood was a big influence at a young age.

                             Jason Bonham
Jason Bonham (born July 15, 1966) is an English drummer and son of the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham.Bonham was born in the town of Dudley, Worcestershire. He first began playing drums at the age of four, and appeared with his father in the film The Song Remains the Same, drumming on a scaled-down kit. Recently Bonham starred with Ted Nugent, Evan Seinfeld (Biohazard), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), and Scott Ian (Anthrax) on the VH1 reality television show, SuperGroup, in May 2006.On 12 September 2007, it was announced that Jason Bonham would step into his father's shoes and play drums for a Led Zeppelin reunion concert. This took place on 10 December 2007 at London's O2 arena as part of an all-star tribute to Ahmet Ertegün. By many accounts, he was more than up to the task, and superbly carried on his father's tradition.
Bonham has recently been touring (supporting) with the rock band Thunder on their farewell tour.

 The "voice of rock"  was born in Cannock, Staffordshire, England on 21 August 1952, is a bassist and vocalist well-known as the lead vocalist for Black Sabbath during the mid 1980s, as well as playing bass and performing vocals for the Mk. III and IV line-ups of Deep Purple, as well as being a notable solo artist in his own right.Other bands projects that he is involved in are : Trapeze, HTP (with J.L.Turner) and Phenomena (an AOR project).

 
 
 

Derek Sherinian

Derek Sherinian (born August 25, 1966) is an American ‎rock and fusion keyboardist based in Los Angeles, California. After studying at the Berklee College of Music, Sherinian became a keyboardist and sideman for a number of artists, including Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kiss, Alice In Chains,[1] and Zakk Wylde. He has also played keyboards for Dream Theater and is the co-founder of the band Planet X. His solo albums feature several prominent artists, including Slash, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Lukather, John Sykes, and Al Di Meola.

Sherinian has been called the "King of the Keys" by Guitar World Magazine and the "Caligula of keyboards" by Alice Cooper due to his performing style. His influences include Elton John, Keith Emerson, Jan Hammer, and a variety of guitarists. Sherinian endorses various equipment, including Korg and Clavia keyboards. He is of Greek-Armenian descent and has a special interest in Armenian history.
