John Norum / Total Control (1987)

An outstanding effort from John Norum and his friends.This is the first solo release from the guitarist of the monster band Europe. In this album special guests are Marcel Jacob on bass and Goran Edman on lead vocals in "Too Many Hearts ". There are a total of eleven tracks,one of the tracks is an instrumental. Total Control is heavier and more guitar-driven than The Final Countdown or Out Of This World album.Highlights are "Love Is Meant to Last Forever," "Too Many Hearts," and "In Chase of the Wind." . "Love Is Meant to Last Forever" is a nice hard rock song with melody. The ballad "Too Many Hearts" is also a good song with a cool guitar solo. The guitar instrumental "In Chase of the Wind" is a great showcase for his guitar skills.John's vocal skills are ok but his range is limited. Overall a great album. 9/10
