THE RETURN OF BANG TANGO ?

Bang Tango is getting close to finishing their new studio album, the band's first since 2006's 'From The Hip'. The band -- consisting of Joe Leste (vocals), Lance Eric (bass), Scott LaFlamme (guitar), and Trent Anderson (drums) -- have been working with producers Kevin Rodgers and Daniel Salcido and hope to have the new album out by September.

WARRANT (Germany) To Release Two Track Promotional Single At Wacken Open Air Festival

German metallers WARRANT will be giving away 5,000 free promotional two track singles as a preview of their forthcoming album, during their performance at this years’ Wacken Open Air Festival which will take place August 4th - 6th in Wacken, Germany.

The two track single is also available for download on the band’s website (http://www.warrant-germany.de/news/kostenlose-2-track-single/ ).  Warrant is currently in the studio working on the follow up to their 1985 album Enforcer.

GOTTHARD / Homegrown - Alive in Lugano

“Homegrown – Alive In Lugano“ contains a live recording of the band's concert on the 17th of July 2010 in Lugano, which was one of the last concerts with vocalist Steve Lee, who tragically died during a motorbike trip through the USA on the 5th of October 2010 in an accident which was not his fault. Due to the sudden accidental death of Steve Lee, the CD's release was postponed. The CD will be published on the 30th of September via the Musikvertrieb (Switzerland) and Nuclear Blast/Warner Music (rest of the world).

BAI BANG / LIVIN' MY DREAM (2011)

BAI BANG is a veteran sleaze hard rock act from Sweden. They started in the mid 80's and they toured with many 'big' names such as Thin Lizzy, Ratt, Dio, Motley Crue, Pretty Maids and they played at festivals such as Sweden Rock, Wacken and Rocklahoma. So, after the very good "Are You Ready" two years ago, the band is back and ready to offer to us another solid album full of big harmonies, in-your-face guitar riffs and an 80's feeling!

ZZ TOP - New Album Finished

ZZ TOP’s new album is now finished, being mixed, and will be released in the fall of 2011.

Billy Gibbons tells Mojo magazine, “It sounds and feels like Tres Hombres, with a few elements of the Eliminator period thrown in. A pretty wide range, from basic blues to slightly more fancy stuff. Songs recorded include 'Flyin’ High,' 'More Slower Blues', 'Chartreuse' and 'Have A Little Mercy'. The latter is, says Gibbons, inspired by early B.B. KING cuts.

The sessions have been executive-produced by Rick Rubin (METALLICA, SLAYER). Gibbons adds, “The thing about Rick is he pushes the artists to spend more time reaching down deeper than they normally would.”

FOREIGNER - Feels Like The First Time CD/DVD Package Due In September

According to Billboard.com, FOREIGNER is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the band's formation by going acoustic, electric and live - all on the same package.

"Feels Like the First Time" is a CD/DVD package that will be released by Razor & Tie exclusively via Wal-Mart on September 13, while the audio components will also be available on iTunes. The set comprises a pair of CDs - Acoustique: The Classics Unplugged and Juke Box Heroes: Brand New Digital Recordings of Foreigner's Greatest Hits, along with the DVD Live in Chicago, which was filmed in March during two shows at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Ill., and will also be shown during PBS' pledge drive this fall.

HELLYEAH To Finish Recording Music This Weekend For "Heaviest Record Yet"

HELLYEAH, the southern-fried metal band featuring drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott (ex-PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN), singer Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE), guitarist Tom Maxwell (NOTHINGFACE) and bassist Bob "Zilla" Kakaha (ex- DAMAGEPLAN), are currently recording their third album at Vinnie Paul's Alrington, Texas home studio.

Will Wallner And Vivien Vain Complete Debut Album Featuring Legendary Musicians

Wallner/Vain are also proud to announce the completion of their debut album. Production for their debut began in 2010 and several guest session musicians are featured on the album including Carmine Appice, Vinny Appice, Brian Tichy, Jimmy Bain, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin, Derek Sherinian and Tony Carey.

New Iced Earth Album

American power metal icons Iced Earth have confirmed that their new album will be entitled "Dystopia" and will be released on 17th October in Europe and in the U.S on the 18th.

Although "Dystopia", Iced earth's 10th studio offering, is not a concept album, founder Jon Schaffer admits there are unifying themes to several of the songs - and even an appearance by band mascot "Set Abominae."

"I've always been fascinated by the darker side of life," Schaffer said during a break from master tracking Iced Earth's forthcoming CD. "Movies like 'Metropolis', 'Brazil', and 'The Matrix' resonate with me. The same for albums like '2112', 'The Wall', and, of course, 'Operation: Mindcrime'. Their images of a soulless, repressive society stuck with me over the years. It must be the sci-fi fan in me."

White Widdow – Serenade

Founded in Melbourne Australia, White Widdow was formed in 2008 by front man Jules Millis , Bassist Trent Wilson and Guitarist Enzo Almanzi. Soon after, Jules brought in his brother Xavier Millis on the keyboards, a two time ARIA (Australian Record Industry Award) nominee. With Xavier onboard, the writing team was in place and the line-up was then completed with Jim Naish on drums. Raised on a healthy diet of 80's Arena Rock and influenced by artists such as White Sister, Giuffria, Aviator, Survivor, Danger Danger, Rick Springfield and Roxus, White Widdow started out playing live amongst the diverse Melbourne Rock scene, they quickly established themselves as a solid live unit throughout their native Australia. In mid-2009 White Widdow recorded and released their free digital only EP which was very well received in selected press.

John Sykes And Mike Portnoy Together For A New Project?

Former Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy guitarist John Sykes is teaming up with ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy in a brand new band.

Along with a currently unnamed bass player, the trio have demo-ed 12 songs for the new project and will begin recording in the Fall. News of the new collaboration was revealed at a recent taping of That Metal Show.

With few details surfacing, Mike Portnoy decided to clear up some things with a posting on his official forum. "Yes, this is what I've been working on here in LA for the last week or so (as well as a few days at the end of May)" said the drummer, "John & I have been working with a bass player as well (no, not Dug Pinnick) and the announcement of who it is will be made at a later point... let's just say it is a completely ridiculous modern-day power trio!!!"

INTERVIEW WITH CARSTEN "LIZARD" SCHULZ (EVIDENCE ONE, DOMAIN, PARADISE INC.)

 

Carsten "Lizard" Schulz is one of today's finest performers. He is recognisable by his tough, still melodic, voice and his works as a lead singer for bands such as DOMAIN, MIDNITE CLUB and EVIDENCE ONE are all samples of a great performer.

2011 and a new band/project is on the way with Carsten on lead vocals. PARADISE INC. is a band that plays Melodic Hard Rock and it's going to blow you away with their melodies, their great songs and Carsten performanes!   

So, below you are going to read a very interesting interview that Carsten "Lizard" Schulz gave to Heavy Paradise and talked about PARADISE INC., EVIDENCE ONE, DOMAIN but, also, some other really interesting stuff!

HeavyParadise : Hallo Carsten! Thank you for accepting my invitation for this interview.

Carsten : No problem at all, Vas!

HeavyParadise : Firstly, let me start with your new band, PARADISE INC. Can you tell me some words for the creation of the band?

Carsten : It all started in early 2009, when my buddy Paul Logue from EDEN'S CURSE called me. He was to produce an album for this Brazilian band, but they needed a singer. I kinda liked the music, so I agreed in doing the album. I finished my parts in late 2009, and over the last year, the collaboration grew stronger and stronger.

HeavyParadise : From the samples that I've heard, it sounds very melodic. Can you give us a taste of what are we going to hear?

Carsten : Classic AOR, eighties style! The kind, I like the most. Very melodic with a lot of great hooks.

HeavyParadise : Is the songwriting a team work result?

Carsten : Not really. Most songs were written before I joined in. I contributed one track, which I write with Robby Boebel back in 2002 for the first EVIDENCE ONE album. Unfortunately, the track turned out to be too much AOR for E1, but I always loved it. Paul Logue also wrot/co-wrote two tracks for the record.

 Edguy have just returned from the video shoot for "ROBIN HOOD", the opening track from Edguy's forthcoming Album "AGE OF THE JOKER" (release August 26th). Video director Oliver Sommer (Avantasia, Nena, Helloween...) and the band decided to satirize the Errol Flynn version "The Adventures Of Robin Hood". The miniature epic was shot in the forest with a large number of additional actors, starring German TV-comedian Bernhard Hoecker in two different leading roles a.o..

Uriah Heep's Live in Armenia 2CD+DVD package

It is so cool that vinyl is making a comeback and I can't believe we are releasing a gatefold album cover in 2011! OUTLOUD / LOVE CATASTROPHE (2011)

This is an excellent second release from OUTLOUD ! Yes, after their huge debut album, the boys are to rock our world for good. "Love Catastrophe" is titled the band's follow-up to their succesfull debut. The album was produced by Bob Katsionis and masterfully mixed and mastered by the mighty Tommy Hansen. Once again the band delivers some excellent and tight melodic heavy rock stuff in the vain of early T.N.T., Bon Jovi and Skid Row without loosing their indentity at all.

ALYSON AVENUE / CHANGES (2011)

ALYSON AVENUE is a female fronted melodic hard rock band and "Changes" is the band's third effort. Anette Olzon was the band's lead singer till' 2007, she went to Nightwish, and in 2009 Arabella Vitanc were Alyson Avenue's new singer. Even with a new vocalist, the band continued to deliver some excellent and solid melodic rock stuff. In "Changes" the band collaborates with some really impressive set of guests such as Michael Bormann (ex-Jaded Heart, Redrum, solo e.t.c.) and Rob Marcello (Danger Danger).

Nashville's Fools For Rowan to open for Evanescence

LOS ANGELES, CA - On August 17th the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee will host local rockers, Fools For Rowan, and worldwide superstars Evanescence. The 1661 maximum capacity sign will surely be put in jeopardy, at the historic auditorium, as this is Evanescence's only U.S tour date this year. Fools For Rowan are more than an adequate opening act and are sure to prove to everyone in attendance that they are very capable of being headliners.

DOUG ALDRICH : "I’ve been a fan of Whitesnake since I was about 16 "

Q: You’ve been in Whitesnake since 2002. Were you a fan of the band or Coverdale’s work?

A: "Originally I signed up for a two-month tour in 2002. I’ve been a fan since I was about 16. I recall my mother had dropped me off at my friend’s house because we wanted to learn how to play 'Mistreated'. There was no way that I could have played 'Burn' at that time! I’ve been a fan since I was a teenager.

Derek Sherinian releases new solo album 'Oceana'

Derek Sherinian's new solo album 'Oceana' is released Monday September 5th by the Music Theories Recordings label via the Mascot Label Group.

If this were the 1970's, the heyday of such keyboard titans as Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord, Sherinian would be among that elite circle of players who were superstars back in the day when such talent was not only appreciated, but celebrated in popular music. This is, however, 2011, and in this age, Derek Sherinian is the premiere rock keyboardist of his generation, a member of the supergroup Black Country Communion, a former member of Dream Theater, and a solo artist in his own right.

AEROSMITH ARE IN THE STUDIO!!

AEROSMITH entered guitarist Joe Perry's home studio (The Boneyard) outside of Boston recently with veteran producer Jack Douglas to begin recording their long-awaited 14th studio album. Douglas worked on such classic Aerosmith albums as 1974's "Get Your Wings", 1975's "Toys In The Attic", and 1976's "Rocks".

He also collaborated with the band on its 2004 collection of blues standards "Honkin' On Bobo".

Crazy Lixx Drummer Leaving The Band

Drummer Joel Cirera will leave Crazy Lixx before the end of 2011, after almost 10 years in the band. In June of last year the Swedish rockers announced the addition of guitarist Edd Myers -- who had been playing with the band live since the release of their last album 'New Religion' in early 2010 through Frontiers Records.

Beth Hart & Joe Bonamassa team-up on new album "Don't Explain"

'Don't Explain' is the debut collaboration between American singer-songwriter Beth Hart and the acclaimed Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. The album, made up exclusively of intimate soul cover versions, will be released in the UK and Europe on Monday 26th September by Provogue Records.

OF All the British melodic rock groups operating out of the UK during the late 1980’s Romeo’s Daughter were, undoubtedly, viewed as the great white hope; they were the saviours of the scene, the band most likely to succeed… or so we all thought.


Switching from Jive Records to the independent Music For Nations label, they took the bull by the horns and got back to work by crafting a stunning follow up to their critically lauded debut. It is a record stuffed to the gills with choice songs and exceptional vocal performances from Leigh Matty, proving that the band’s worth was just as valuable if not more so. That ‘Delectable’ ultimately failed to secure a foot hold to enormo-dome success was not the fault of the band or record, but more a sign of the times. Yet despite everything it remains one of the most revered albums of the period.

Former Motley Crue Singer John Corabi To Perform With Scrap Metal In August

Celebrity rock super group Scrap Metal announced John Corabi -- former lead singer of Motley Crue, The Scream and Union -- will join them as special guest star performing at the upcoming Scrap Metal summer rock concert event at the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den in Uncasville, CT on Friday, August 5, 2011.

Scrap Metal, the celebrity rock super group whose members have sold over 50 million records worldwide, was co-founded by Nashville rockers Gunnar Nelson (Nelson - "Love and Affection") and Mark Slaughter (Slaughter - "Fly to the Angels"). The August 5th summer rock event will star twin lead front men Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, former Deep Pyrple and Rainbow lead singer Joe Lynn Turner, and former Vixen vocalist Janet Gardner.

Dream Theater Fans Responding Well To New Drummer, New Single

OK, that headline is kind of an understatement. Dream Theater is currently on tour in Europe, introducing new drummer Mike Mangini to the world and preparing fans for the release of their new album "A Dramatic Turn of Events", due out September 13, and the response has been kinda rabid, actually - as is to be expected when it comes to Dream Theater.

Dokken Reunite, Minus Don

The planned classic-era Dokken reunion now may be off the table, but that hasn’t stopped three quarters of the band from getting together to lay down some tracks, both old and new, and taking a little dig at the missing member in the process.

George Lynch has told Classic Rock Revisited that he has formed a new band with Dokken alumni Jeff Pilson (bass) and “Wild” Mick Brown (drums) called Tooth and Nail, named after a Dokken album. “That’s Dokken without Don,” Lynch explained. “The record is called Dump the Chump.”

Musically they draw on influences such as Giant, Toto, Foreigner and Yes to name a few, but still keeping their own personal sound and musical identity intact. Strong melodies, well crafted songs and catchy vocal arrangements are their trademark.


The band was originally named Orange Crush and was formed in Los Angeles in 1999, while the members where studying music at the Musicians Institute. The founding members Johannes Stole (vocals) and Daniel Palmqvist (guitar) later returned to their home countries of Norway and Sweden and continued collaborating on various projects in between their other engagements. Johannes is a sought after session singer/artist in Oslo, Norway and has released a critically acclaimed album with progressive rock band P:O:B. RAVEN LORD announce line up + 2 demo songs!

Raven Lord is causing a lot of stir these days. Csaba Zvekan (Killing Machine, Sardonyx, Emergency) the founder of the band who recently signed with Rock N Growl. Csaba Zvekan played last Summer Wacken, Graspop, Foire aux Vins and was the support Act for AC/DC's Black Ice Tour 2010 for the French leg.

2011 has been a very productive year musicaly till' now. Some really great albums so far that make it so difficult to build up a TOP list and with some up-coming releases in the near future it will be more and more difficult for the final list!

Kiss guitarist Tommy Thayer discusses new album, replacing Ace Frehley and inaugural Kiss Kruise

KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer spoke with Dustin Schoof from The Express-Times recently about a number of topics. A part of the interview can be viewed below:

"The biggest step was replacing one of the great guitar players of our time who has influenced so many people. Those are big shoes to fill. The biggest challenge walking into that situation and succeeding was that good things take time. Getting in there and trying to fill the role he played and play the parts as well or even try and do it better ... it slowly becomes a little more me and just being the Spaceman, it's been quite a process. There have been so many amazing fans who have been so supportive and honest about letting me know I'm doing a great job and to keep it up."
